“Sunshine Baby” Education Fund

November 22, 2003, Manulife-Sinochem held its "Sunshine Baby" education fund opening ceremony. President of Manulife-Sinochem Mr. Lin Chongwen and Chairman of Shanghai Handicapped Association Mr. Xu Fengjian attended. The fund will be used to support disabled students' education. Furthermore, Mr. Lin Chongwen, staff and agents from Manulife-Sinochem donated blood at a special blood bank set up for the day.

Special Care for SARS

In the first quarter of 2003, Manulife-Sinochem held a "SARS care" event in Shanghai and Guangzhou with the support of clients. Manulife-Sinochem donated RMB 20,660 to the children of affected medical staff.

“Canada Day” football game

Manulife-Sinochem took part in the football event at the "CCBC 2003 Canada Day" and was awarded championship by Canadian Consul General in Shanghai.

Manulife-Sinochem Education Fund

2002, Manulife-Sinochem supported an initiative, in co-operation with the SMG Broadcast Station, to fund future education of 24 disadvantaged students.

"Manulife-Sinochem Beibei" greeted leukemia children

September, 2002, Manulife-Sinochem's staff and agents donated more than 1,000 "Manulife-Sinochem Beibei" toys to young leukemia patients in Ruijin Hospital.

Canadian Youth League visited China

August, 2002, the Canadian Youth League visited Manulife-Sinochem. The visit was a great success, with the Youth League learning lots about China. The event was designed to help promote Canadian-Chinese relations.

International Forum

May, 2002, Manulife-Sinochem sponsored the "Globalization and China's Reform: - an International Econo-Political Perspective" Forum in Fudan University. Scholars from more than 30 countries discussed the development of foreign insurance companies in China.

Manulife-Sinochem Dread disease Charity Fund

2001, Manulife-Sinochem donated RMB 500,000 to set up a “Dread disease Charity Fund”, which helped students suffering from dread diseases in Shanghai.

Planting Canada-China friendship trees in Century Park

February 14, 2001, Manulife-Sinochem donated 100,000 RMB worth of seedlings to Shanghai Century Park. Canadian Prime Minister Mr. Chretien, Shanghai mayor Mr. Xu Kuangdi and President of Manulife Financial Mr. Deng Lizhong planted seedlings to symbolize friendship between the two countries.

Hope Primary School

August 1999, Manulife-Sinochem donated RMB 500,000 to Guangyuan County, Sichuan Province, Mr. Deng Xiaoping's hometown, to build a primary school and a water supply station.

Helped Baihu primary School improve educational facilities

March, 2001, Manulife-Sinochem supported the Guangzhou Education Office to help Baihu primary school to improve their educational facilities.
