A million people respond to Manulife-Sinochem's 2009 charity fund-raiser "Love Umbrella"
After nearly two months, Manulife-Sinochem's charity fund raiser to support three schools for hearing impaired children ended this week – with more than a million people contributing RMB 480,000. The event, in which agents volunteered to sell umbrellas to raise funds, took place throughout Beijing, Shanghai, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shandong, Fujian, Chongqing and so on totally 10 provinces. The money raised by selling "Love Umbrellas" will be donated to the Suining Shehong, Meishan Renshou and Gao county special schools in Sichuan, for buying audiphones and other equipments to support and enable children with hearing and subsequent speaking disabilities. As part of the donation, 15 deaf-mute students from Shehong and Renshou special schools will fly to Shanghai in March for a 3-day dream trip. Manulife-Sinochem volunteers will take them to see city highlights including the Jin Mao Tower, Shanghai Science and Technology Museum and on a Huangpu River cruise. In underprivileged areas, about 8 million deaf-mute children lack hearing aids. Programs such as "Love Umbrella" are committed to helping bring dreams to life for disabled children.
Manulife-Sinochem launched “Love Brings Dream”CSR Event to help children in disaster areas realize their dreams
October 7 2008, Manulife-Sinochem announced the 2008 CSR program "Love Brings Dreams". Agents from more than 30 branches around the country sold plant seeds to clients to raise money for a charitable cause helping 4,000 children in areas hit by the Sichuan Earthquake.

Manulife-Sinochem announces establishment of 100 libraries for disadvantaged children in China
Manulife-Sinochem held an "Olympic Smile" book donation ceremony in Shanghai Hongyi Plaza. As one of the company's Olympic community activities, the Olympic Smile program will establish 100 libraries around China designed specifically to create a nice reading environment for disadvantaged children.

MSL Sheshan Charity Event
February 8, 2007, Manulife-Sinochem and Shanghai Charity Foundation launched a charity ceremony in Sheshan. Poor primary and secondary school students from Qingpu, Jinshan and Songjiang as well as students from Fengxian Handicapped School attended the activity. The event brought our care and compassion to these children through fun events and games.

April, 2006, Manulife Financial supported a charitable cause for children through its event Amazing Race. Manulife-Sinochem and Manulife Financial donated a total of RMB 100,000 to the China Charity Federation to support its "Tomorrow's Plan" program.
